31 for 31: Part 1

I love a good end of year list, especially when it comes to reflecting upon the year’s music releases. For 2020, and the month of December, I decided to design a poster a day, inspired by my favourite albums of the year. So, 31 posters for 31 albums.

I set myself some basic rules, such as:

  • The name of the album should be more prominent than the band or musician
  • Each albums tracklist needed to be included in the design
  • Whenever possible, typefaces purchased from independent type foundries should be used
  • Try and keep colour palettes to 5 colours or less

Other than that, it was an open brief to myself, to try and capture the feel of each of these albums, using varying aesthetics, techniques and design approaches.
